L’ABSENCE se penche sur la périgrination performative de Rivard sur la Côte-Nord du Québec. Dans la répétition des saisons qui passent et fuient, l'absence devient à la fois un référent spatial et social. Dans le poème servant d’amorce au récit visuel, Rivard révèle en l'absence sa capacité à incarner un lieu pour s'inventer illimitée, puisque toujours ailleurs. La série photographique raconte son périple dans la saison froide, où l'absence se transforme en repère pour l'artiste : l'absence, un royaume qui, invisible, se définit à perpétuité. Comparable à un journal de bord, les images explorent les spécificités propres à l'idée d'un lieu et au fait de se raconter.

L'ABSENCE examines Rivard's performative wanderings on the North Shore of Quebec. In the repetition of the passing and fleeing seasons, the absence becomes both a spatial and social referent. In the French beginning poem, Rivard reveals in the absence her capacity to embody a place in order to invent herself unlimited, since always elsewhere. The photographic series recounts her journey into the cold season, where the absence becomes a location for the artist: the absence, a realm that, invisible, defines itself in perpetuity. Comparable to a logbook, the photographies explore the specificities of the idea of a place and the act of telling oneself.

Be Your Own Muse: Through the Splinters of One’s Labyrinth est un livre d’artiste, un journal de bord poétique, un essai littéraire et un manifeste féministe. Le texte, en langue anglaise, se penche sur l’autofiction par l'errance entre différents labyrinthes de glace, où l'écriture du soi et de l'autre se déploie via l'entrelacement de multiples voix féminines littéraires (Clarice Lispector, Jenny Hval, Rebecca Solnit, Nancy Huston, Marlen Haushofer). La publication travaille l'exploration des motifs de l'artiste par une fréquentation des solitudes, des spatialités, des géographies intimes et des territoires plus vastes, imaginaires et réels.

BE YOUR OWN MUSE is an artist's book, a poetic diary, a literary essay and a feminist manifesto. The text, in English, questions the autofiction and the fragmentation of the self by wandering through different labyrinths of ice, where the writing of the self and the other unfolds through the interweaving of multiple female literary voices (Clarice Lispector, Jenny Hval, Rebecca Solnit, Nancy Huston, Marlen Haushofer). The publication explores the artist's motifs through a frequenting of solitudes, spatialities, intimate geographies and wider territories, both imaginary and real.

Endangered Bedrooms: the fossils and the sheets are rooms remembered, through the marks and fractures left, in the fragile foldings of morning. The photobook interweaves self portraiture and still life, interrogating the glass like presence of these spaces, by which the passage of time and dwelling of place inscribes its own purpose: the direction of stone and sleep. In the waking hour, a journey transpires theatrically and photographically as a means to protect the soft and glacial nature of these sleeping spaces.

Bedeutungsgeflecht is a curatorial project conceived in the framework of Cultures of the Curatorial programme at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig. The project consists of multiple books in a modular open-source format that can be merged together as interleaved books.
The project aims at questioning narrative book structures, the position of author, reader and subject, and seeks to experiment with the medium of a book as a curatorial and inspirational device. It cuts loose from authorial or unambiguous curatorial intentions and underlines the importance of gaps in between the material and the attempts to stitch them together.
Artists and writers were invited to design a book in a standard format, using the same specific font, page size and number of pages. The participants were free to use any medium such as text, poetry, found footage, photography, drawings etc. Contributors were encouraged to use a broad variety of different (artistic) languages. The project results in a collection of artist books not intended as an organic whole or to be read in a specific order.
